Lovely Lovely Cottage
The converted wine store which is surrounded by the vineyards of the region is split between two floors. The lounge and kitchen are upstairs with the bedroom and shower room being below, which add to the charm of this perfect holiday home in the small village of Labastide en Val. With its spacious rooms, the exposed beams and the lovely enclosed patio the property delivers everything we hoped for, set in the village with its small river and ever so French feel it is a wonderful place.
The accommodation has everything you require to enjoy your time in this beautiful area of France, with so much thought to detail; it ensures that everything we required was to hand making our time there so memorable.
We spent a week here, visiting Carcassonne, La Grasse and the coastal village of Peyriac-de-Mer all being within a short drive of the accommodation, along with lovely walks in the immediate area of the village.
For us it ticked all the boxes and when you stand with the locals in the village square buying your breakfast from the delivery man each morning, this and other memories and the time we spent in the cottage are moments we will treasure.
If you want a real taste of rural France, then look no further. Maggie and David, thank you for sharing your lovely cottage.

Richard & Sharon,

Perfect Location.
We were very impressed with the house in Labastide en Val, it had everything we required, was very clean and all the fittings were of a high quality. The village itself was very peaceful, we enjoyed walking around the area, there are many tracks leading into the hills. All our shopping was done outside the village which was no problem as we made sure we stocked up on the local food and wine on our return from our day trips. There are so many sites to visit nearby, too many to fit into our week there. Highlights include visiting Carcassonne, Lagrasse, and Chateau De Peyrepertuse. We will definitely return to this area and would love to stay in Maggie's charming house again. Thanks for letting us stay there. Alan Taylor and Ulrike Maxrath from Scotland.

Delightful Home from Home.
Dear Maggie. It has been a joy staying in your gorgeous home. Finding a personal note and bottle of wine set the tone and made us feel welcome the moment we walked through the door. You provided so much helpful information and I have never stayed anywhere where so much was provided. Your lovely house is a perfect marriage of modern conveniences and French charm so clean, spacious and comfortable. Favourite moments opening the shutters to watch the sun come up over the mountains each morning and listening for the cow bells. Stunning scenery, sunny skies and balmy breezes what more could anyone want. Paula and Tom.

Tom - Chester,

Perfect in every way.
We chose this beautiful property in La Bastide en Val because we liked the thought of staying in a converted wine 'cave', and we were not disappointed! The house is situated at the end of the picture perfect village, and is a haven of peace and tranquillity!
The property has a large living area and wonderfully equipped kitchen upstairs, with a view over the surrounding countryside and vineyards. There is a lovely terrace with table and chairs, which is perfect for breakfast or relaxing with a glass of chilled rosé. Downstairs is a beautifully decorated bedroom and bathroom, with a large and very comfy bed! Everywhere was immaculately clean and smelt fragrant and cared for.
Maggie, the owner, could not have been more helpful! From my first enquiry about the property, she was impressive in the speed with which she responded, and was a mine of information about the village and surrounding area. Her customer service was second to none!
We would highly recommend La Bastide to anyone who wants to get to know this amazingly beautiful area, as we did. We will definitely be making a return trip, as we feel it would be hard to find a more lovely and welcoming retreat!
Thank you again, Maggie!

The sweetest little house!
Dear Maggie, from the moment we arrived at your beautiful little place we knew that we could not have made a better choice. We found everything just as we expected and more! The bottle of red wine awaiting our arrival was such a thoughtful gesture - thank you. We loved the tiny hamlet of Labastide, the perfect location to get away from it all, blissful seems the correct word to use. I could go on and on ....! All in all - perfection!

Lovely home in a beautiful area'
Dear Maggie
Thank you so much for the welcome card and excellent wine you left for us.
We have loved the window seat and the sound of the stream. Your home is very well equipped and comfortable. We found all your instructions very helpful and the maps very useful. It was very good to have WIFI as we have been house hunting and emailing estate agents. We have been successful so we are very happy.
Thanks again for the use of your lovely home. Good luck with your venture.
Kind regards
Carol & Bill

Carol & Bill - Falkirk,

We recently stayed at the property, we found the location superb for our needs, it is beautiful countryside and mountains with a gentle sound of a river flowing in front of the window and occasional church bell. The towns of Carcassonne and Trebes with their shops and supermarkets are within 30 minutes drive. The property has everything that one would need - all the mod cons, and a lot of space. A perfect place from which to explore the beautiful area of Languedoc. Our week went so quickly that we wished we had stayed longer. We would definitely come again when we improve our French.

Chucha - Orpington, Kent,

We have just returned from spending two weeks exploring the beautiful area of Languedoc and Rousillon, where we visited many local villages, towns and cities, especially Carcassonne. Labastide en Val provides spacious and comfortable accommodation. It is attractively furnished and very well equipped. Maggie's house felt like borrowing a friend's house rather than staying in a holiday rental and is highly recommended.

Geoff & Linda - Windsor, Berkshire,

We loved staying in Maggie's house in Labastide-en-Val. It really was a home from home with our every need catered for. We felt very taken care of by Maggie herself as well as all the thoughtful touches Maggie had included. I think it makes a real difference that you are staying in a home rather than a house that is just used for holiday lets.
The house is very cool and relaxing and airy. It's very cleverly converted and has everything you could possibly need. We enjoyed eating on the terrace, sitting on the sunny steps watching the world go by and taking long naps!
The village is very friendly and we really enjoyed chatting with the neighbours, dashing for the bread van and being invited to local parties and events.
The surrounding area is gorgeous - we loved visiting local towns such as Lagrasse and Carcassone and we also enjoyed going for lots of wild swims. There are lots of places nearly and also a beautiful crystal clear swimming spot in the village itself.

Lucy C - Bristol,

We stayed at La Basitide en Val for four nights. The village is in beautiful countryside in a remote part of Languedoc. It is quiet and peaceful, woken in the morning only by a babbling river, cow bells and birdsong. The house itself was extremely comfortable and Maggie had thought of everything to make our stay enjoyable. The kitchen and living area is upstairs with a comfy sofa to collapse into after a long day touring the area. The house is very clean and tidy, and has a lovely warm bathroom. There are no shops in the village, however, the bread lady calls most days and Lagrasse is about 15mins away where there are plenty of cafes and restaurants. A most peaceful and enjoyable stay - we would definitely recommend it.

Shenk - Melbourne,

Excellent! just arrived home after a relaxing yet invigorating holiday. The Gite is everything that you could hope for: modern, stylish, fully equiped, a shower to die for and surrounded by peace and tranquility yet only a short drive to shops and amenities.
The owners description of the property and village is absolutely spot-on and accurately conveys her love of the house and inhabitants of the village who are really friendly.
